Description
There was a young girl from a poor family who lived in a Japanese village called Takeda. She had to go to work or the landlord would force her family to leave their home. She was to care for the baby of a wealthy family (even though she was but a child herself). They lived on the other side of a mountain. Carrying a baby on her back, she often gazed at the silhouette of the mountains, yearning for her family and the home where she belonged. During these hard days, she would sing this song with sadness and longing in her heart.
